Sufi master Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan

Sufis are in full resonance with Cathars, and it is no coincidence if my dear master Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, while living in Suresnes overlooking Paris, owned a cabin in Cathar land were he used to go for retreat.

Is it a coincidence if I happened to settle down a few kms from his retreat place without knowing it ? 😉

Proselytism is prohibited in Sufism, nonetheless I couldn’t help but pay a tribute to Pir Vilayat by recalling his amazing journey in https://awakenersofthedawn.com/, because he took all the risks during WWII without carrying a weapon (non-violence oblige) as a photographer in RAF planes surveying Germans in France, then as an officer in the Royal Navy commanding a minesweeper on D-Day to open the way for the Normandy landing beaches.

Then, in the aftermath of the war he spent times in the Himalayas staying with the rishis living in caves, and he used to make a parallel between spiritual exploration/progress and mountain climbing, saying that one needs a guide to progress because he knows the way…

Pir Vilayat also used to repeat “the map is not the territory“.

As a former field man/safari-photo guide, I can only confirm how right was my dear master… 😉
