New Zimbabwe Rules Mandate Local Grain Sourcing to Curb Imports

According to Agriculture Minister Anxious Masuka, millers, stockfeed makers, and food processors must source at least 40% of raw materials from local farmers under new rules.

The changes are aimed at reducing grain imports, boosting domestic output, and strengthening agricultural value chains starting next week.

🌾The framework mandates prioritizing locally grown maize, wheat, soybeans, sunflowers, and cotton.

Additionally, if imported goods arrive cheaper than local production costs, the price difference will go into the Agriculture Revolving Fund—a move designed to curb cheap imports and fund support for local farmers.
