When she arrived in India Noraly bought a Royal Enfield Himalayan 410cc, it was quite daring because it was the very 1st bike engineered by Indians after keeping on producing the British Bullet monocylinders 350cc & 500cc since an Indian family bought the brand from England in the early 1950’s after independence.Â
After buying the British frame-constructor Harris, Royal Enfield launched the Himalayan 410 in 2017, and it became a hit both in India and abroad, especially thanks to Itchy Boots who made me buy mine in june 2019. So, I sent her money for refills and ordered some Itchy boots stickers, like the one on my metal panier. 😉
That’s how I went back into the saddle after selling 28 years before my 900cc Yamaha, and I enjoy so much my thumping mono bike several times a week riding 700m down in the valley, and especially riding back scratching the footpegs in the curves, because you don’t attack riding downhill… 😉
But the Himalayan is quite heavy (close to 200kg with full tank) to lift up, and once back home in the Nederlands Noraly was proposed lighter bikes and got sponsored. Then, after several models along the different seasons of her vlog, she found the best compromise with this 1980’s 600 Ténéré Yamaha, easy to repair with its carburetors vs. modern injection too sophisticated for bush mechanics.
